RRP Record Keeping Basics
To comply with the EPA’s Repair, Renovation and Painting Rule (RRP), records must be retained for three years following project completion. These records must be made available to the EPA upon request. Maintaining the necessary records is an important part of proving compliance in the event of an audit.
Records that must be kept include:
- Copy of Firm and Renovator certifications
- Training documentation for non-certified
workers
- Proof of pre-renovation education for
occupants (details regarding distribution or
attempted distribution of Renovate Right
pamphlet)
- Copies or photos of signs posted in common
areas
- Lead based paint test kit and inspection
results, where applicable
- Additional forms and photos, as required by
law
Incomplete or incorrect forms could result in a fee in the event of an audit.
Certain documents must be kept on-site. These documents can be either maintained as hard copy (paper) documents, or in electronic form.
